Mukkam: The success of Mr.Muhammed Ali Shihab, an alumnus of the Mukkam Muslim Orphanage, became an honor of distinction to the Orphanage. Mr. Koroth Muhammed Ali Shihab fro Edavannapara ( Cheruvayoor ), who secured 226th rank in the civil service examination is in fact a memorable experiences and a maker for much jubilation for the orphanage, which had bagged National Award for child welfare twice. On the death of his father in the year 1991 the orphanage took care of him along with his two sisters. After passing PDC, TTC, Degree and B Ed from the orphanage, Mr. Shihab was working as teacher at Muthuvallur Govt HS when he got through the civil service exam. The orphanage had been active in the field including his coaching in Delhi, by way of support and assistance, said the office bearers of the orphanage. Shihab also reminisced that there had always been sincere support and encouragement of the orphanage management for his accomplishment in all the examinations. The orphanage had honored him and his achievement in the entire PSC test he had taken. For his smart success in the civil service examination the orphanage Secretary Mr. V.E Moyi mon haji as well congratulated him.
A 23 member team from Abudhabi's Founder President Shaikh Zayed family, comprised of His Majesty's daughter and present ruler His Majesty Shaikh Khaleefa Bin Zayed's Sister, Her Highness Shaikha Roda Bint Zayed Al Nahyan, her special Private Secretary Fathima Shamsi Ummu Abdulla and other members from the Royal family, arrived in a special chartered flight at Calicut on 28th April and paid a visit to Mukkam Muslim Orphanage on 29th April 2011 Friday. The Orphanage inmates and Managing Committee gave the Royal Family a very enthusiastic warm reception with three embellished Elephants and March past of the inmates. The Orphanage inmates offered special prayers for the welfare of the Royal Family. The Royal Family distributed sweets and presents to the children, authorities and staff. The approximate Monthly expenses for providing three times food for the inmates come to 13.5 lakh rupees. The Mukkam Muslim Orphanage institutions have been selected for the Kamantakath Kunhahammed Koya Memmorial award by Muhammedan Educational Association, for exceptional achievements in educational field. The award comprising Rs.10000 will be presented by Union Minister Mullappally Ramachandran at A function in MM High School compound on October 3rd 2009.
